Rep. Vargas Statement on Biden Administration’s Continued Commitment to Israel’s Security
WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (CA-52) released the following statement on his support for the Biden Administration’s continued commitment to Israel’s security.
“On October 7th, Hamas unleashed pure evil and terror on Israel and its people. In the aftermath of that horrific attack, the United States sent a strong message to Israel - you are not alone and you never will be. I applaud President Biden for continuing to demonstrate that our commitment to Israel’s security is unwavering, including by providing critical military supplies needed to defeat Hamas.
I share the Administration’s support for Israel’s right and obligation to defend itself and its citizens against Hamas terrorists, and I share the Administration’s commitment to continuing to prioritize delivering and distributing humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians across Gaza. That's one of the reasons why I joined 190 of my colleagues in an effort to push the House to take action on a bill that would provide needed humanitarian aid for innocent civilians in Gaza.
Every civilian death in this conflict is a tragedy, and my heart weeps for them and their loved ones. Each one is a victim of Hamas, an organization that has killed Israeli civilians in their homes and used hospitals to store weapons and house fighters in. This conflict will end when Hamas releases the remaining hostages in Gaza, including multiple U.S. citizens, and lays down their arms. Without defeating Hamas, there can be no peace for Palestinians or Israelis.”
